Educational Aims & Objectives
Patients presenting with acute and chronic neurological symptoms in primary and secondary care settings form a significant part of the workload of general physicians and GPs. Careful clinical assessment is vital to initial management, and the identification of those patients requiring further investigation and a specialist opinion.
This Clinical Update in Neurology conference will examine a number of common neurological symptoms and conditions presenting to General Physicians and GPs, with the aim of improving diagnostic skills and early management. The programme will include consideration of both acute and chronic problems of headache, dizziness, fits, faints and funny turns, stroke and acute neuromuscular weakness, the diagnosis of dementia, Parkinson’s disease and functional neurology. The day will conclude with a series of videos demonstrating a variety of neurological presentations.
By the end of the conference, those attending should feel more confident in being able to deal competently with a wide range of neurological conditions, before specialist help is available.
The meeting is intended for all General Physicians and trainees, emergency medicine and acute medicine doctors, GPs and GP registrars.
